DENVER (KDVR) — Two people are dead after a small aircraft crashed and caught fire near the Centennial Airport on Friday morning.
Just after 6:20 a.m., the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said a call initially came in for an explosion. The sheriff’s office and the South Metro Fire Rescue arrived on scene to find a small aircraft on fire in a business park at 8636 South Peoria Street. This is just south of the Centennial Airport.
Firefighters were able to contain a fire that the rescue said was threatening a structure and large generators, however, the sheriff’s office confirmed that two people have died.
The rescue said there was no other damage to the building or generators, and no other people were involved, and there were no other injuries.
FOX31’s Jim Hooley is on scene gathering more information.
This is an ongoing investigation.
