(PIKES PEAK REGION, Colo.) — The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region shared the story of Zero, a dog who has faced a series of unfortunate events that caused him to wait in a shelter for a forever home.
According to HSPPR, Zero is 10 years old and described as a lovely gentleman whose family loved him very much. The family tried to keep Zero, but they were unable to make ends meet, and then disaster struck.

Zero was attacked by another dog that left him with injuries to his leg and in his heart. Zero’s family, recognizing that love sometimes means letting go, made the difficult choice to bring him to the shelter.
The shelter’s veterinary team performed surgery on Zero and gave him time to heal. Once healed, he was made available for adoption. However, for three weeks, no one visited Zero.
Zero’s story had a happy ending; however, on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 11, Zero was able to find his forever home.
