DENVER (KDVR) — Aurora police closed Airport Boulevard in both directions Monday evening after a car and a semitrailer crashed.
The crash occurred at about 3:25 p.m., the Aurora Police Department said, and motorists should consider using Chambers Boulevard or Tower Road to avoid the road closure.
The department said that preliminary information gathered at the scene showed there was an adult driver in the car, along with a child passenger. The driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the child sustained no or minor injuries and was also transported.
As of 4:30 p.m., the police department did not have information about the semitrailer driver and whether they had any injuries.
However, the crash left the semitrailer disabled and blocking several lanes of traffic. To keep everyone safe, the agency closed the roadway between Colfax Avenue and Smith Road.
Aurora police said that the semitrailer will require a heavy tow to be removed from the scene, and there’s no estimated time for the reopening of Airport Boulevard.
As of Monday evening, the crash remained under investigation.
