DENVER (KDVR) — Ahead of the University of Colorado Buffaloes‘ season opener home game, Boulder agencies are asking fans to drive safely along US-36 after an accident on Friday morning.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office posted to X after an accident occurred on US-36 west of the Superior exit in the morning, reminding fans about road safety before the highly anticipated game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Folsom Field.
“With the University of Colorado Buffs taking on Georgia Tech tonight, we know many fans will be traveling along US 36 between Denver and Boulder. Please take this as a reminder to drive with caution so you can get to your destination safely,” said the sheriff’s office in the post.
The game is set to kick off at 6 p.m. MT, but with U.S. 36 being a primarily traveled highway to get into Boulder from Denver, there could be traffic in the area.
“Stay alert, avoid distractions behind the wheel, and remember that your loved ones want you to return home safely after the game,” said the sheriff’s department.
The Boulder Police Department reposted the initial reminder from the sheriff’s office, which noted that it was a “good reminder to drive safely.”
The sheriff’s office added that fans should plan, whether that be a designated driver, ride share or other safe traveling option.
“Go Buffs,” said the sheriff’s office.
