Cañon City man facing more than 1,000 counts of child sexual exploitation, police say



(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — A Cañon City man has been arrested on a slew of charges after he was witnessed attempting to take pictures up the skirt of a person shopping at Walmart without her knowledge or consent.

According to the Cañon City Police Department, officers originally responded on Sept. 2 to the Walmart in Cañon City after receiving a report of a man, later identified as 23-year-old Jordan Reynolds, trying to take pictures up the skirt of a person without her knowledge. Upon review of the incident, officers determined the case warranted further investigation.

While conducting the follow-up investigation, detectives discovered that Reynolds allegedly possessed an excessive amount of child sexual abuse material, including:

  • Over a thousand photographs of suspected child sexual abuse material
  • 235 separate videos of suspected child sexual abuse material
  • 37 videos produced by Reynolds involving people who were unaware they were being filmed
  • One video that supports a criminal charge of sexual assault

Reynolds was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 22, and faces the following charges:

  • 1,088 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child (photos)
  • 235 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child (videos)
  • Sexual Assault
  • Incest
  • 14 counts of Criminal Attempt to Commit an Invasion of Privacy
  • 23 counts of Criminal Invasion of Privacy

CCPD Chief John Schick thanked the bystanders who reported Reynolds’ activity, which prompted officers to dig deeper into the suspect.

Reynolds is being held on a $20,000 cash-only bond and is due in Fremont County Court on Oct. 29.
