Caught on camera: Douglas County deputies seek burglary suspects in Castle Pines

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two late-night burglaries that happened just minutes apart in Castle Pines, and they’re asking the public to check their home security footage for any signs of the suspects.

The break-ins happened around 9:22 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3. Deputies say two homes, one on Oakview Place and another on Glen Ridge Drive, were targeted by what they believe are three masked suspects wearing hoodies and backpacks.

“Drones, multiple drones were put up in the air to try and find out where they were, if they were still hiding in the area,” said Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly. “Then, of course, the dogs, to track potential suspects, but unfortunately, we were not able to locate any of the suspects.”

Despite the extensive search for hours, the suspects were not located. The sheriff’s office is urging anyone in the area to review doorbell cameras and home surveillance systems between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the night of the break-ins. Investigators say even a small detail could help solve what happened.

“It could in fact crack the case, so we’re asking anybody, please look at your video around your house for that time frame, or even frankly, days before if there was anybody that was in the area that might be unusual,” said Weekly.

Deputies say you can submit any surveillance, doorbell camera footage through its Community Camera Partnership for people living in Douglas County.

“You can let us know if you have cameras on your home. It doesn’t give us access to the cameras or anything like that but it does let us know that if we do have a crime in your area that we can contact you for potential video,” said Weekly. “Again, I want to stress it doesn’t give us access to your camera so it just lets us know that you have them available.”
