DENVER (KDVR) — There’s a new art exhibit coming to Denver, don’tchya know?
The Lab on Santa Fe is hosting an art exhibit that will feature pieces from over 20 artists from across the United States that are based on the movies of the legendary Hollywood duo, the Coen Brothers.
The Coen Brothers are known for their dark humor, layered characters and eye for the hidden drama amongst the mundanity of everyday life.
Some of the duo’s best and most popular works include:
- “Blood Simple” (1984)
- “Barton Fink” (1991)
- “Fargo” (1996)
- “The Big Lebowski” (1998)
- “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” (2000)
- “No Country for Old Men” (2007)
- “True Grit” (2010)
- “Inside Llewyn Davis” (2013)
These are only a handful of gems in the Coen Brothers’ expansive catalog of hit movies that have inspired audiences around the world.
Some of those people who were inspired will show off their best creations centered around the work of the brothers’ iconic films.
“How Fargo Can You Go?”: An Art Tribute to the Coen Brothers’ Cinematic Spirit is a juried and curated show led by Denver artist Rick Dallago. After finding success with a similar style event inspired by the great mind of the late David Lynch, studio owner Josh Berkowitz created another cinema-based event for the Coen Brothers.
Dallago is a former film producer who made the swap to artist, and still uses his love for film to manifest in his work today.
“The Coen Brothers have an unparalleled ability to blend humor with serious themes, and this exhibit aims to capture that unique spirit. Each artist brings their own interpretation, making for a truly captivating experience,” said Dallago in a press release.
The event opens on Oct. 3 and closes on Nov. 15.
There will be an artist reception on Oct. 11 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and an artist talk on Oct. 26 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
