Colorado Lottery gives out tickets for 7th biggest Powerball ever

DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado Lottery is providing 150 King Soopers shoppers in Arvada with a free ticket for the Powerball drawing on Wednesday, the Colorado Lottery said in a press release on Tuesday.

The tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the King Soopers, located at 9731 W. 58th Ave. in Arvada. The grand event will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 11 a.m., with the giveaway expected to occur at 10 a.m.

The Powerball jackpot sits at $815 million, after no winners were announced on Monday evening.

This jackpot started on June 1 and is the first to break $700 million since a ticket in Oregon won the billion-dollar jackpot on April 6, 2024.

The last six drawings have brought a winner from Colorado, but none have hit the grand prize, the Colorado Lottery said.

The winning tickets were purchased at locations, including:

  • July 11: City Market, La Verkin: $50,000
  • July 18: Alta Convenience, Castle Rock: $50,000
  • July 30: Capshaw Liquors, Aurora: $100,000
  • Aug. 7: Winners Corner, Westminster: $200,000
  • Aug. 15: Sinclair South 8th Street, Divide: $50,000
  • Aug. 18: King Soopers, Centennial: $100,000, and Good 2 Go Store 711, Cortez: $50,000

Colorado has had three previous Powerball winners.

According to Powerball, the Wednesday drawing will be for the seventh-biggest jackpot in Powerball history.
