Company moving headquarters to Aurora, projected to add over 1,700 new jobs

DENVER (KDVR) — A Colorado-based company has announced plans to expand its operations, with the projection of creating over 1,700 jobs within the city of Aurora.

On Wednesday, Gov. Jared Polis, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade and the Aurora Economic Development Council announced in a press release that RK Industries LLC will be opening a 154,488 square foot facility in Aurora.

RK Industries LLC is one of the largest private-sector employers within the state, with eight businesses that specialize in various operations, including construction, manufacturing, advanced fabrication and building services solutions.

In the press release, it said that the over 150,000 square foot facility has been in the works for more than 2 years. The facility will house the company’s headquarters and four of its eight businesses.

“Relocating our headquarters to Aurora isn’t just about expanding our footprint in Colorado, it’s about expanding opportunity. We’re projecting to create over 1,700 good-paying jobs over the next eight years, investing heavily in workforce training, and strengthening the communities where our employees live and work,” said Chief Operating Officer of RK Industries Jon Kinning.

RK Industries has already established two facilities in the city of Aurora, with another factory in Henderson, Adams County. As nearly half of the company’s workforce already resides in the city, it made the city of Aurora “the natural choice” for the company’s new headquarters, said the press release.

“Aurora is proud to welcome RK Industries’ headquarters,” added Jason Batchelor, Aurora City manager. “With so many of their employees already calling Aurora home, this is the perfect fit for RK Industries and our community. Companies like RK are providing meaningful careers in skilled trades and manufacturing. This meets a growing demand in advanced manufacturing and construction. We look forward to a long-term relationship with this major employer.”

There is no information on the exact location of the facility or how long construction will take until it opens, but the press release noted “both confidence in the city’s future and the strength of Colorado’s construction and advanced manufacturing sector.”
