DENVER (KDVR) — Thursday, Denver Police released body cam footage from two recent, officer-involved shootings, which left one suspect dead.
The first footage shows the moments leading up to an Aug. 22 officer-involved shooting in the 4900 block of East Donald Avenue.
Police say the suspect ultimately pulled out a handgun and refused commands to drop it. The weapon ultimately turned out to be a replica 9mm revolver with live ammunition, with no ability to discharge.
The suspect has been identified as 48-year-old Javier Nava Carbajal. No officers were hurt.
The 2nd incident, on Aug. 25, took place on Alameda Avenue near Lipan. Police responded to reports of a man pointing a gun at passing traffic.
Police say that the man refused commands to drop his weapon and was also shot and taken to a local hospital.
At Thursday’s press conference, police say the suspect’s weapon was also a replica gun.
No officers were hurt.
