DENVER (KDVR) — Denver Summit FC, the city’s first professional women’s soccer team, announced its first scheduled match in 2026.
The National Women’s Soccer League, NWSL, first announced the Denver team in January, and since then, it’s created a team name and logo, acquired a head coach and a few players and set up plans for a new stadium and a training facility in the Denver metro.
Now, the team has its first game.
On Monday, the team announced the inaugural match on March 28 at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in 2026.
Ticket availability hasn’t been announced just yet, but there will be a big crowd. In September, the team confirmed that it had seen over 15,000 season ticket deposits nearly half a year before kick-off. Jen Millet, Summit FC’s president, said they chose to play at Empower because they needed a stadium large enough to match the number of fans.
Millet also said they’re trying to break the attendance record for professional women’s sports.
“We have a chance to do something incredibly special here in March, and I don’t just mean breaking the attendance record for professional sports, for women’s professional sports. It’s truly the victory that breaking that record will send to girls and women across Colorado. And that message is that women are worth investing in, women are worth supporting and women are worth showing up for,” said Millet.
At this time, there is no information on when the game will be and who the team will be playing.
