Denver weather: Cooler, wetter weather pattern begins

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver’s long stretch of temperatures in the 90s has come to an end.

The Denver weather forecast for the weekend and through next week features much cooler and wetter weather across the state.

Highs on Saturday will only be in the upper 70s, about ten degrees below normal. Spotty showers and storms will be possible in the afternoon. The metro area will rebound slightly Sunday to near 80 degrees with continued rain chances.

Weather tonight: Scattered rain and storms

Near seasonal temperatures overnight Friday.

Scattered rain and storms are expected for the first half of the overnight period on Friday. Severe weather is not expected, but some towns may see heavy rainfall and gusty winds from any thunderstorms. Temperatures fall into the 50s on Saturday morning.

Weather tomorrow: Mild with some storms

September-like temperatures on Saturday.

Saturday will begin mostly cloudy and dry across the Front Range. The metro will see some sunshine in the early afternoon. Spotty storms will start to develop by mid-afternoon, with the best opportunity being south of the metro. Keep an eye on the sky if you have any outdoor plans. Winds may occasionally gust to 20 mph.

Looking ahead: Unseasonably cool and wet

If you’re tired of the high summer heat, then this is the forecast for you. Temperatures next week will be well below normal, with highs on Monday and Tuesday only in the lower 70s.

The Pinpoint Weather Team is keeping a close eye on the rain potential Monday and Tuesday as there are signs that there may be heavy enough rainfall to pose flooding concerns for some regions, particularly old burn scars.

Daily chances of rain through next Friday with unseasonably mild temperatures.

Through the end of next work week, rain totals may surprise 2 to 3 inches in some communities. Rain chances begin to let up starting Wednesday, but every day in the forecast has some opportunity to see showers.

The area will stay below normal with highs topping out only around 80 degrees for the second half of next week.
