Denver weather: Mostly dry for metro, but rainy in the mountains

DENVER (KDVR) — Unseasonably mild October weather continues this weekend for the metro area with the Denver weather forecast staying mostly dry, though a few showers will be possible Saturday.

Periodic rain in the mountains Saturday, with drier and windier weather in the lower elevations.

The mountain forecast will be much different with periodic rain expected and possibly some high elevation mountain snowfall, though significant accumulations are not expected. The University of Colorado Boulder football game should be dry on Saturday.

Weather tonight: Dry and mild

Dry and mild weather overnight Friday.

Skies will be mostly cloudy to overcast overnight Friday. Temperatures will stay unseasonably mild with lows only in the upper 40s to low 50s around metro Denver, well above normal for this time of year. Rain will stay confined to the higher elevations.

Weather tomorrow: Mostly dry

Another mild day in east Colorado Saturday; cooler in the mountains.

Other than a few stray showers in the morning and early afternoon, most of Saturday will be dry around metro Denver. The eastern plains may see a few showers in the early and mid afternoon. Rain is far more likely in the mountains on Saturday. Highs will be in the lower to middle 70s.

Looking ahead: Staying dry but turning breezy

Although October is a month of change, so far our weather pattern has been pretty monotonous. Sunnier and drier weather is likely on Sunday with a passing cold front likely to bring gusty winds from the north and northwest around 25 miles per hour. Monday may be even windier with gusts approaching 35 miles per hour and an isolated shower or two possible.

Mostly dry, but not as warm, for next week.

After briefly dipping into the 60s on Monday and Tuesday, we’ll be back in the 70s on Wednesday. Next week doesn’t look to be as warm, but there are signs that we may see temperatures return to seasonal readings in the low/mid 60s for next weekend. The forecast is dry for next weekend for now, but we’ll have to keep an eye on a potentially big change to the weather pattern.
