Denver weather: Partly cloudy with average temperatures, chance of isolated showers

DENVER (KDVR) — Sunday brings Denver temperatures that are right around where it should be for the first Broncos gameday.

The home opener looks rather pleasant as we can expect mostly dry conditions. With that being said, don’t rule out a short-lived, gusty shower in the afternoon.

Weather today: A little cloudy with average temps

It will climb back into the lower 80s Sunday afternoon with mostly sunny skies in the morning turning partly sunny in the afternoon. Dry conditions are likely for most, but an isolated shower or storm may wander east of Interstate 25. The high country again has the best opportunity for any shower or storm development.

Weather tonight: Partly cloudy skies

Overnight lows are forecasted to drop into the upper 50s and lower 60s under partly cloudy skies. Winds will be out of the east anywhere from 5-15 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Looking ahead: Not done with summer heat yet

Our warming trend continues through most of next week. Highs Monday return to the middle 80s with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s for some Tuesday through Thursday. Expect mostly sunny and dry conditions during this time. There will likely still be periods of hazy skies from wildfire smoke as well.

The forecast begins to undergo a slight change starting Thursday when minor rain chances return, but confidence is low right now in any meaningful rainfall around metro Denver.

The mountains and south Colorado again look best situated for rain. Temperatures do fall slightly back to the low 80s into next weekend, which is seasonal.
