Denver weather: Potential record-breaking heat Sunday

DENVER (KDVR) — The warm and dry trend for Denver’s weather is forecasted to stick around.

High temperatures Sunday will be near records, with highs in the 80s expected in some locations.

Weather today: Sunny skies and warm

Denver’s record high Sunday is 78 degrees set in 2008, and it may very well come close to or tie that in the afternoon.

Sunny skies are expected. Winds start from the west but turn to the north in the afternoon which may keep our highs down a couple degrees. It will be quite warm in southeast Colorado.

Weather tonight: Partly cloudy and cool

Overnight lows drop into the middle to lower 30s under mostly clear skies. Winds will shift out of the south and east anywhere from 5-15 mph.

Looking ahead: Staying warm and dry

Temperatures briefly cool Monday into the lower 60s, but that’s still slightly above normal. Winds will be a bit gusty at times from the south up to 20 mph. We rebound back into the 70s for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Although Denver and the low elevations will remain dry, there is a slight chance the northern mountains may see snow late Thursday night or Friday. That said, any accumulations are expected to be light.

Temperatures fall back into the middle 60s to end the work week with breezy conditions. Next weekend still looks warm with 60s expected.

There is no snow, rain, or major storm systems expected for the first half of the month.
