Denver weather: Red Flag Warning on Monday with windy, dry conditions

DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver weather forecast turns dry and windy behind another cold front on Monday, with a Red Flag Warning in place for the Denver metro and most of the plains from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This means that outdoor burning is highly discouraged during this time since gusty winds and very low relative humidity could make for chaotic fire behavior.

Meanwhile, a High Wind Warning is in effect for portions of the southern Front Range on Monday morning from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Westerly winds from 30-40 mph may gust up to 75 mph at times along and just east of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Weather tonight: Warmer and becoming breezy

Temperatures will not be nearly as cool compared to Sunday morning, with lows only falling to the middle 40s thanks to breezy southwesterly winds developing overnight. Our skies will remain clear.

Weather tomorrow: Windy with high fire risk

In the wake of a passing cold front, temperatures will be much cooler in the lower 60s. Winds will be very gusty throughout Monday, sustained from the northwest at 20-30 mph, gusting up to 50 mph at times.

Skies will remain mostly sunny but hazy at times due to blowing dust, especially during the afternoon and evening, as wind gusts are peaking.

Looking ahead: Seasonal and mainly quiet

Temperatures begin warming again heading into midweek as highs approach 70 degrees on Wednesday before another cold front passes through on Thursday. This will bring a small chance for rain showers in the Denver metro, but the best rain chances will stay to the south. Due to the storm system being fairly close, expect a noticeable increase in cloud cover on Thursday.

Temperatures will cool off again temporarily behind Thursday’s front, then it’ll warm back to 70 degrees on Saturday. There is the potential of another weather maker swinging through here around Sunday into early next week, so watch the timing of that closely for the Broncos game next week.
