Denver weather: Warm end to the weekend with a pop-up shower possible

DENVER (KDVR) — Warm conditions continue as Denver metro closes out the final weekend of September. The Denver weather forecast is still unseasonably warm into October, but Sunday and Monday do feature slight chances for a few pop-up showers around the metro.

Weather tonight: Breezy and mostly clear

Mild and breezy overnight Saturday.

Skies will be mostly clear overnight Saturday. Temperatures will be above normal thanks to a “warm” southeast breeze which will occasionally gust up to 20 miles per hour. Lows fall into the middle 40s to the middle 50s across eastern Colorado. The mountains fall into the upper 30s to low 40s.

Weather tomorrow: Breezy with a chance for showers

Another warm afternoon in east Colorado with showers in the mountains.

Temperatures on Sunday will warm into the upper 70s and low 80s across the eastern half of the state. Winds remain breezy from the south up to 25 miles per hour. Clouds increase in the afternoon with a slight chance for a couple of showers around I-25 in the afternoon. If you’re planning to go leaf peeping in the mountains, keep an eye on the sky (and the road!) as spotty showers will be most likely in the high terrain.

Looking ahead: Quiet weather starts October

Monday continues our unseasonably warm trend with highs again in the upper 70s to low 80s across the region. The metro will have another opportunity for a few pop-up showers in the late afternoon, perhaps even a thunderstorm. The Broncos game should be ok, but a brief shower can’t be ruled out.

Staying warm into October.

October starts on Wednesday, with temperatures remaining slightly above normal with a lot of sunshine. Most of next week looks dry, but there are signs the weather pattern will undergo some changes late in the week that may bring opportunities for mountain snow and plains showers. This must be watched closely. The metro may also start to cool down heading into next weekend.
