Denver weather: Windy weekend with a chance for showers

DENVER (KDVR) — It’s autumn, but the Denver weather forecast will continue to feel like late summer for another day before we experience a brief cool down. The weekend also features a chance for showers.

Warm and windy Saturday, cooler Sunday; both days with a chance for showers.

Rain and even thunderstorm chances will be greatest in the high country Saturday. Windy conditions are expected in most locations Saturday, with slightly less windy conditions Sunday.

Weather tonight: Mild and breezy

Unseasonably mild overnight Friday.

Temperatures do not cool much overnight Friday thanks to steady south winds around 10-20 miles per hour. Average lows for Denver are in the low 40s, but we’ll only cool into the upper 50s as the metro wakes up Saturday morning.

Weather tomorrow: Windy, warm, with a chance for showers

Summer-like temperatures continue in eastern Colorado on Saturday.

Highs Saturday afternoon will again be above normal with highs in the lower to middle 80s across eastern Colorado. The high country will be slightly cooler thanks to periodic showers and storms. Metro Denver and eastern Colorado may see some isolated showers or storms in the late afternoon into the early evening. Winds will be high tomorrow with gusts over 40 miles per hour possible in the mid to late afternoon.

Looking ahead: A brief cool down

A cold front passes through Colorado Saturday into Sunday and will knock temperatures from the 80s into the 60s. Winds remain elevated with gusts to 30 miles per hour expected. More isolated showers will be possible in the afternoon with the best likelihood in the northern front range mountains Sunday night into early Monday.

Temperatures briefly dip for a few days starting Sunday.

Denver metro will stay in the 60s Monday and Tuesday. Breezy winds will persist as well, and the metro may see a rogue shower or two as well. The cool down doesn’t last long as temperatures are forecast to return to the middle and upper 70s starting Wednesday into next weekend.
