DENVER (KDVR) — As the Autumn sun sets over the Mile High City, the city of Denver is already preparing for the upcoming holiday season with the 2nd Annual Mile High Holiday’s Nightly Drone Spectacular.
The show will illuminate the downtown skyline beginning Nov. 21 and run through Dec. 31.
For 41 nights, 600 drones will soar 500 feet into the air and dance across the night sky, creating special holiday and winter-themed animations, including several special to Denver.
Justin Bresler with Visit Denver says this year’s holiday drone shows are going to be even bigger and better than last year.
“If you remember the designs from last year, we are going to improve on those with more features, there’s also going to be some new designs that are some holiday magic but also Denver favorites,” said Bresler, “They are super festive, and you can get really creative with the designs.”
Each night, the 11-minute display created by Denver-based BrightFlight Drone Shows will be a sight to see from many downtown restaurants and bars, with MSU Denver’s Tivoli quad on the Auraria Campus as the holiday village epicenter.
“The Auraria Campus in the Tivoli Quad is going to be a whole holiday village that includes the nightly drone shows but also the Christkindlmarket, which is returning here, and of course, the Mile High tree, which has become one of Denver’s favorite holiday traditions,” said Bresler.
Now in its second year, the city hopes the drone show spectacular becomes a dazzling must-see holiday tradition for years to come.
