Elitch Gardens hiring 'scare actors' for Fright Fest

DENVER (KDVR) — Elitch Gardens announced Thursday that it is looking for “scare actors” to join its team and “bring the screams” during its upcoming Fright Fest season.

The amusement and water park transforms every year in late September into “six weekends of hair-raising fun,” with the addition of haunted houses, scare zones and shows.

“Guests of all ages can enjoy spookier thrills, tricks and treats with brand-new attractions for both Fun By Day and Fright By Night, plus all their favorite theme park rides,” the park said in a release earlier this month.

Arguably, the biggest thrill of Fright Fest is the addition of the scare actors, who are tasked with roaming the park and scaring guests.

Aspiring scare actors must be at least 18 years old and able to wear a costume, and be okay with a full face of makeup applied daily, among other things, according to the park. Applications can be filled out online.

Elitch Garden says on its website that there will be three new “TERRORtories” this year, as well as two new haunted houses and one new show filled with “thrills and dark surprises you won’t see coming.”

Fright Fest runs from Sept. 27 through Nov. 2 — including Halloween night on Friday, Oct. 31, for the first time since 2014. Tickets can be purchased at the main gate or online.
