DENVER (KDVR) — The students and faculty of Evergreen High School have been invited to return to the school on Sunday to pick up any personal items they may have left behind.
The school has been closed and classes cancelled since a shooting occurred on Wednesday afternoon, leaving scenes both inside and outside the school. Three students were injured, including the alleged shooter, who died of his self-inflicted wounds. The two victims remained hospitalized as of Thursday afternoon.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office shared on social media sites that it would be facilitating the return of personal belongings left in the school during time slots on Sunday.
“We understand that many students and faculty left behind personal items such as backpacks, bags, and phones during Wednesday’s incident. Those belongings have been secured,” the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office said.
Faculty will be allowed to pick up items at the school from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., and students have been invited to the school from 11 a.m. through 5 p.m. Anyone going to pick up items is asked to go to the school’s main entrance and bring ID if possible.
“We know this is going to be a difficult time. Victim advocates and mental health professionals are coordinating this effort, and will be available for everyone,” the sheriff’s office said.
