DENVER (KDVR) — Jeffco Public Schools has announced how students at Evergreen High School will return to school after last week’s shooting.
In an email on Friday from Skyler Artes, the principal at Evergreen High School, to families and staff said that students and staff can return on Sept. 25-26 and participate in two customized “half-days.”
“Students will be able to choose from activity options that they feel most comfortable with. Lunch and buses will be provided,” said Artes in the email.
The high school had been temporarily closed after the shooting on Sept. 10, when a student opened fire on campus, leaving two other students with critical injuries and killing himself.
The email also included the conditions of the high school building after the shooting, which said the Jefferson County facilities team had gone into restoring and repairing the school.

“For the most part, our school looks just as it did at the start of the year. There are a few small changes, such as replaced floor tiles and new carpet,” said the principal.
There will also be a parent information session at Bergen Park Church on both Monday and Tuesday, which will give parents information from nationwide schools that have experienced “similar events.”
