DENVER (KDVR) — Fort Collins’ city attorney is dismissing nearly 500 speeding citations that were mailed out earlier this month without vehicle and violation information printed on them.
The 477 citations came from a single camera radar unit located in the 800 block of West Prospect Road, according to a press release from the Fort Collins Police Services. The citations were mailed between Sept. 4 and 17.
Police said when they found out the issue, they contacted the vendor, Verra Mobility, which then sent corrected copies of the citations, apparently to the dismay of the people who received them.
“FCPS appreciates the frustration our citizens may feel when receiving something official in the mail that is missing information or seems to be a duplication, especially when we are all on the lookout for scams,” police said in the press release.
Police said the citations were for valid violations, but “to address any confusion or concern this printing error may have raised for those who were cited, the City Attorney’s Office is dismissing citations that were impacted.”
Anyone who was issued an errant citation between the dates listed will have their cases dismissed without having to pay any fines.
If someone has already paid, they can contact the Fort Collins Municipal Court by email at [email protected] to get refund information.
Anyone questions about the status of a camera radar citation they received related to this incident can contact Fort Collins Municipal Court. General questions about the camera radar program can be made to the FCPS Camera Radar Coordinator, Stephan Sparacio, at 970-416-2236.
