Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park set to host 'Cider Days' festival


DENVER (KDVR) — Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park is hosting its annual “Cider Days” festival Saturday, Oct. 4, and Sunday, Oct. 5.

Cider Days is held to celebrate Lakewood’s “agricultural heritage,” according to the city, which said the event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and include a mix of live performance, activites and “tasty harvest treats.”

What to do

Some of the activities at this year’s Cider Days festival include:

  • Tractor pulls
  • ‘Vintage’ power displays
  • Wagon and barrel train rides
  • Historic demonstrations
  • Exhibitors and vendors
  • Cider pressing (bring your own apples)
  • Apple arts & crafts
  • Face painting
  • A goat walkabout
  • Magician and balloons
  • Pie eating contests
  • Line dancing
  • A macintosh maze
  • Trick pig show

All amusement activites are included with the price of admission. Groups will be allowed to press up to one 5-gallon bucket’s worth of apples.

Live music will also be played at the event, including performances from Dennis Velasquez Native American Flute, Las Dahlias Mariachi Band and Tonewood String Band on Saturday and Pennies on the Track and High Lonesome Bluegrass on Sunday.

The music will be played on the “Alameda Connects Stage,” one of three stages for the event.

Ticketing

Tickets can be bought online as timed entry slots in 30-minute increments from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Attendees are advised to adhere to their chosen time, with the city noting the tickets are non-refundable and that it cannot guarentee entry outside of the entrance window. A 30-minute grace period will be given for entry before or after the schedule entry period, however.

The price of admission is $8 for children between the ages of 1 and 12, $10 for adults who buy in advance and $15 for adults who buy a ticket day of. Infants under the age of 1 get in free. “Well-behaved” dog are also welcome at Cidar Days.

Parking and shuttles

Limited parking will be available along South Yarrow Street, at the Lakewood Cultural Center, the Lakewood Police Department and the Belmar Shopping Center.

Parking in the Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park lot will be reserved exclusively for a free bike valet and those in need of accessible parking.

The city is also providing free shuttles from the Belmar Shopping Center, Lakewood Civic Center and Lakewood Police Department parking lots.

Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park is located at 801 S. Yarrow St. in Lakewood.
