DENVER (KDVR) — Denver just experienced its last sunset after 5 p.m. of the year as daylight saving time comes to an end on Sunday.
Be sure to set clocks back one hour on Sunday (if it does not do so automatically) and enjoy the extra hour — the sun won’t set after 6 p.m. like last week for another four months.
On the bright side, it means one more free hour of sleep for one day. On the darker side, it means the sun will set an hour earlier and the days will get shorter and shorter as winter approaches. Early birds can rejoice as it also means earlier sunrises.
The sun came up Saturday around 7:29 a.m. and will rise Sunday around 6:30 a.m. The Denver weather forecast has possible record breaking heat before sunset ushers in cooler temperatures around 4:56 p.m., according to estimates from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Here’s an idea of when the sun is expected to rise and set in Denver in the upcoming months:

The sun is expected to set about a minute or two earlier each night until the earliest sunsets at 4:35 p.m. Dec. 4-10.
The sun will be up for just under nine hours and 20 minutes on the winter solstice, Dec. 21. The next sunset after 5 p.m. will come on Jan. 15, 2026.
Next year, daylight saving time will begin on March 8, and clocks will skip ahead an hour bringing the first sunset of the year to fall after 6 or 7 p.m.
