DENVER (KDVR) — Numerous law enforcement officers were on the scene of an incident on eastbound Interstate 70 near Lookout Mountain that has shut down traffic.
The Colorado State Patrol said that the agency had responded to a call for shots fired at troopers.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said there had been an officer-involved shooting at a nearby Walmart in Evergreen.
As of 6 p.m., all eastbound traffic had been stopped and Colorado Department of Transportation cameras showed about 10 law enforcement vehicles surrounding what appeared to be a white SUV.
The scene is located along I-70 eastbound near milepost 257, but details about what is being investigated were unknown.
Westbound traffic was not impacted by the incident.
Officials appeared to be diverting eastbound traffic from the interstate at Lookout Mountain, which is at milepost 256. Backups were visible as far back as milepost 255.
