Jingle all the way: Colorado radio station announces start of wall-to-wall Christmas music

DENVER (KDVR) — The Christmas season may feel like it starts sooner and sooner each year, but it’s time to get ready: Colorado radio station KOSI 101.1’s switch to 24/7 Christmas music is just over three weeks away.

If you’re thinking “bah humbug,” don’t worry, the change is not coming this month. The radio station has scheduled the change in music for Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. The station has changed itself over to wall-to-wall Christmas music annually for 24 years as of this season.

To help kick off the change, KOSI 101.1 is going to be broadcasting live from the Moxy Hotel in Cherry Creek North on Nov. 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. Santa is expected to visit during the event, and there will also be Christmas crafts and “lots more family fun,” according to the radio station.

“We are excited to return for a second year to the Moxy Hotel in Cherry Creek North as we switch to all Christmas music in a beautiful, festive setting,” said Brian Michel, program director.

KOSI 101.1’s Christmas catalog includes all the seasonal favorites: Andy Williams, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Gene Autry, to name a few, as well as contemporary songs that have captured hearts as well, including songs from Josh Groban, Mariah Carey, Michael Buble and Carrie Underwood.

“I’m also excited to announce that one lucky child and their family will get to help the station flip the switch to officially launch KOSI 101.1 into Christmas music onsite at our live broadcast,” said Michel.

Fans can enter the contest to flip the switch beginning on Monday, Oct. 27, at kosi101.com. Cherry Creek North’s holiday market is slated to open on Nov. 20, a week after KOSI 101.1 makes its musical change.
