DENVER (KDVR) — The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a large water main break in the city of Centennial on Friday afternoon.
In a post on X, the sheriff’s office said the 1790 block of East Easter Avenue is closed between South Franklin Street and East Davies Place after a large water main break.
The agency said that motorists should find alternate routes.
FOX31’s Hanna Powers is at the scene to learn more information about this story, including how many homes are without water and when it could be restored.
Powers spoke with Ronald Wright, who has lived on East Easter Avenue since 1979. On Friday, his yard took the brunt of the flooding. He was one of the first to call 911 after spotting the geyser, saying he had just dropped his son off at work when he “turned that corner and it was like 45 feet gushing in front of my house.”
“Look at the rocks — they are all over the place. It looks like a volcano erupted,” Wright said, adding that one Denver Water worker told him he had never seen a break as large in more than three decades on the job.
