Lone Tree officers arrest 2 suspects, find puppy in allegedly stolen car


DENVER (KDVR) — A suspicious activity report resulted in officers finding a puppy in an allegedly stolen vehicle, according to the city of Lone Tree.

In a post to Facebook, the city said officers responded to a call of two female suspects who were under the influence while shopping and allegedly attempted to steal. The report came from the 9100 block of Westview Road.

The city said when officers arrived, they identified the two female suspects and confirmed that they were connected to a stolen vehicle, which was in an area parking lot.

Officers confirmed one of the suspects was the suspected driver of the vehicle. Law enforcement then found inside the vehicle multiple stolen items from retailers and a puppy “trapped” under clothing, said the city.

According to the city, the two women are facing multiple charges, including:

  • Felony motor vehicle theft
  • Theft
  • Driving under the influence
  • Possession of fentanyl
  • Possession of stolen ID/financial device
  • Animal cruelty
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Driving after revocation

The agency also said that the suspects had multiple warrants for their arrest.

The city said the puppy was recovered safely and received immediate care “thanks to the quick actions of our Lone Tree officers.”
