AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — Suspect wanted by the Aurora Police Department in a 2024 shooting case has been arrested after a pursuit ended with the suspect’s truck in a ditch.
According to the Aurora Police Department, in June 2024, Juan Ayala-Uroza, 23, and Randy Alcala, 24, both allegedly fired shots at each other near East Colfax Avenue and Airport Boulevard.
Alcala was arrested a few days after the 2024 incident, but it wasn’t until Tuesday that the Fugitive Apprehension and Narcotics Unit located Ayala-Uroza at a storage unit near East 40th Avenue and Chambers Road, according to APD.
Officers with the unit had gone to the area where Ayala-Uroza was, and he allegedly drove off in a truck into the city of Denver.
In the body cam video provided by APD, you can see a truck jumping onto sidewalks and weaving through heavy traffic on Interstate 70.
Officers later performed a pit maneuver to spin out the truck, rolling it into a flood retention ditch.
APD said Ayala-Uroza “is now facing his original attempted homicide charge plus new charges for eluding our officers.”
