DENVER (KDVR) — A man was taken to the hospital after falling 70 feet in Eldorado Canyon State Park on Sunday afternoon, according to a press release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 2:19 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a call about a fallen climber who was unconscious in Eldorado Canyon State Park.
A 69-year-old man and his climbing partner were climbing the Chockstone route when the man fell about 70 feet.
Bystanders and rescuers were able to perform CPR on the man, and he regained a pulse.
State park employees, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and the Mountain View Fire Protection District all responded to the call.
The crews provided medical assistance before putting the man in a litter and taking him down “steep, loose” terrain.
After about a two-hour rescue operation, the man was taken to a hospital by ambulance. The sheriff’s office said he suffered life-threatening injuries.
