Medical helicopter requested for crash that closed Highway 6 in Clear Creek County

DENVER (KDVR) — A crash closed Highway 6 in Clear Creek County on Tuesday afternoon, the sheriff’s office reported.

The roadway was closed between Highway 119 and Highway 40, which is about 2.5 miles of road.

The Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office said that the crash involved two vehicles and life-threatening injuries, but didn’t say how many people were involved.

As of about 3 p.m., one vehicle was in the creek and a medical helicopter was responding.

This is the second time a car has required an emergency response in Clear Creek off Highway 6 in the past 24 hours, with another car found in the creek with a person trapped inside just before 4 a.m. Tuesday.

The roadway does appear to have a guardrail, as well as a walking path between the road and the creek, and first responders did not share whether there are any contributing factors currently under investigation.

FOX31 has a crew on its way to the scene to gather information about this crash, including the extent of injuries, the number of victims, and the process to remove the car from the creek. As information is gathered, this story will be updated.
