DENVER (KDVR) — A miniature stunt motorcycle rider was arrested last week after allegedly assaulting an off-duty officer in Denver and taunting on-duty officers.
According to the Denver Police Department, it was just after midnight on Aug. 17, and officers were assisting with a downtown safety operation when an off-duty officer called for help.
An officer responded to the area of 26th Street and Larimer Street and learned that a male suspect riding a mini stunt motorcycle had “assaulted the off-duty officer,” although details of the assault were not shared.
After fleeing the area, police say that the same suspect described threw rocks at officers near 20th and Market streets. The suspect continued driving about downtown Denver, “taunting officers,” according to Denver police.
The agency said that undercover officers, who were also in the area for the downtown safety operation, found the suspect and conducted covert surveillance.
Denver police said that eventually, the mini bike was found abandoned in a neighboring jurisdiction and the suspect was found hiding in foliage nearby.
The suspect, an adult male, was arrested for investigation of assault on a peace officer and on several active warrants, according to Denver police. No further information about the case was shared with FOX31.
