DENVER (KDVR) — A man on a motorcycle died in a crash with a turning vehicle in Aurora on Wednesday night, while witnesses reported he may have been racing with another motorcyclist, according to police.
Officers responded to a reported crash with serious injuries near the 19500 block of East 38th Avenue around 10 p.m. and found the man dead at the scene, the Aurora Police Department said in a report on Thursday.
Police said the investigation so far has found that a Kia SUV was driving eastbound and attempted to make a legal U-turn when the crash happened.
Witnesses told police that two motorcyclists appeared to be racing each other, also traveling east. Police said one motorcycle t-boned the SUV, and the rider was thrown from the bike and died
The other motorcyclist narrowly missed the crash, and briefly returned to the scene before “speeding away,” according to the police report.
Police said the investigation is active and ongoing, and the man who died will be identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
