DENVER (KDVR) — Dozens of animals of various species were rescued from a home in Brighton after authorities searched the residence on a warrant related to an animal cruelty investigation.
On Wednesday, detectives executed the search warrant at the home in the 14600 block of Umpire Street, which is just northeast of the Denver International Airport.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said the Colorado Department of Agriculture alerted detectives about allegations of animal cruelty at the property, and a search warrant was obtained.
Adams County Animal Control responded to help execute the search. The sheriff’s office said almost 80 animals were rescued from the property, including snakes, sugar gliders, a hedgehog, mice and rats.
The animals were taken to the Riverdale Animal Shelter.
The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made as of Thursday.
