NFL names its top 100 players: Which Broncos made it?

DENVER (KDVR) — The NFL has slowly been ranking its top 100 players of 2025 after starting the countdown on June 30.

The list is selected by the people who know the ins and outs of these guys the best — NFL players.

Now, nearly two months later, the top 10 has finally been announced. A Denver Broncos player was named in the 10, but who were the other Broncos that joined him in the Top 100?

No. 90: Zach Allen — Defensive lineman

Allen makes the Top 100 for the first time in his six-season career.

He put up stats in 2024, including:

  • 16 games
  • 61 tackles
  • 15 tackles for loss
  • 8.5 sacks
  • 40 quarterback hurries
  • 1 safety

The NFL’s Pro Insight for Allen stated:

“Zach Allen led all defensive tackles with 67 pressures in 2024, which tied for ninth among all pass rushers in the NFL. Allen was particularly successful against double teams, generating 14 of his 67 pressures in such matchups, tied for fifth in the NFL.”

No. 64: Bo Nix — Quarterback

It takes a special type of rookie to crack the NFL’s Top 100 after only one season in the league. Nix showed that he is one of those rare exceptions and is primed to lead this Broncos team for years to come.

He put up stats in 2024, including:

  • 17 games
  • 66.3 pass percentage
  • 3,775 passing yards
  • 6.7 yards per pass attempt
  • 29 passing touchdowns
  • 12 interceptions
  • 430 rushing yards
  • 4 rushing touchdowns
  • 3 fumbles

The NFL’s Pro Insight for Nix stated:

Bo Nix threw for a league-high 904 yards (eight TDs) on passes while on the run (8+ MPH) this season, the fourth-most by any quarterback in a season since 2016, behind Patrick Mahomes’ totals in the 2018 (945), 2020 (951) and 2021 (1,004) seasons.

No. 38: Nik Bonitto — Linebacker

Bonitto had a breakout year in his third season. He led the team in sacks while playing just a little more than half of the team’s defensive snaps at 61.3%. A full season where he is an established starter should see his numbers rise even higher.

He put up stats in 2024, including:

  • 17 games
  • 48 tackles
  • 16 tackles for loss
  • 13.5 sacks
  • 1 interception
  • 2 forced fumbles
  • 1 fumble recovery
  • 2 touchdowns

The NFL’s Pro Insight for Bonitto stated:

“Nik Bonitto was a model of consistency in 2024. He had 11 games with at least one sack, the most in the NFL.”

No. 10: Patrick Surtain II — Cornerback

Surtain made a massive 42-spot leap to the No. 10 position compared to his ranking last year. The Broncos can proudly say they have one of the NFL’s best players, after an impressive season saw him win the Defensive Player of the Year award.

He already puts up insane stats, but in the ranking, voters wanted to note that his numbers might not be as impressive as a few others, which could’ve held him back from a higher spot, but that’s simply because quarterbacks won’t even look to throw in his direction because of how good he is.

He put up stats in 2024, including:

  • 16 games
  • 45 tackles
  • 1 tackle for loss
  • 11 pass defenses
  • 4 interceptions
  • 1 forced fumble
  • 1 fumble recovery
  • 1 touchdown

The NFL’s Pro Insight for Surtain stated:

“Patrick Surtain II was targeted on just 10.9% of his coverage snaps in 2024, the lowest rate among 83 cornerbacks with at least 300 coverage snaps. He gave up only 306 receiving yards as the nearest defender across 516 coverage snaps, translating to 0.6 yards per coverage snap, the second-fewest among cornerbacks.”

Nix will look to lead the Broncos offense in his second season, after being highly rated by his compatriots, who gave the rookie his flowers after taking to the NFL like a fish to water.

The three other Broncos players who featured in the Top 100 were all defensive players. Opposition quarterbacks need to have eyes in the back of their heads to account for the pass rushing of Allen and Bonitto, and if they can get a pass off before those two get there, it certainly shouldn’t be in the direction of Surtain.

The Broncos will kick off their season at home on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, where these players will look to improve upon their 2024 season.
