Northeast Colorado man arrested in Grand Junction for allegedly soliciting child prostitution

DENVER (KDVR) — Investigators in Mesa County on Colorado’s Western Slope are searching for more potential victims after a northeast Colorado man was arrested on several charges related to inappropriate contact with a teenager.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office on Friday arrested Franklin Martin, 69, of Julesburg, which is in the far northeast corner of the state, after “engaged and aware parents” reviewed texts on their teen’s phone and contacted law enforcement about messages “they described as inappropriate,” according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Martin was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility and faces the following felony charges:

  • Sexual exploitation of a child
  • Soliciting for a child prostitution
  • Pandering of a child

The sheriff’s office said there could be more victims who have had similar contact with Martin.

Anyone who thinks they or someone they know has had similar contact with Martin can report it by calling the nonemergency dispatch number at 970-2426707.

The case is still under investigation, and the sheriff’s office did not detail what specific kind of contact Martin had with the teen.
