DENVER (KDVR) — There was a time when a Broncos-Raiders National Football League Game was among the most storied rivalries.
A franchise move for one team and years of mediocrity for both franchises have some wondering if it has dulled the fierce hatred each fan base has for each other over the years.
But despite the win-loss records, Broncos Country seemingly has kept its hatred of its American Football Conference rival.
Both Denver and Las Vegas are original members of the American Football League.
Over at the Rocky Top Tavern, near Regis University, fans’ most vivid game memories revolve around the Broncos playing Oakland, Los Angeles, or, now, the Las Vegas Raiders.
“My favorite memory,” said Bronco fan Corrine Vasquez, “is when my dad took me to the Raiders game, I think I was, I think it was in ’85. Snowy game, 1st game, ever!”
At Mile Hi Veterans, a veterans organization dedicated to veteran care, most Broncos fans listed beating the Oakland Raiders in the 1977 AFC Championship to advance to the franchise’s 1st ever Super Bowl as most memorable.
The Broncos, now 8-2 after beating Las Vegas, host the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 16.
