DENVER (KDVR) — Fishing will be allowed to resume overnight at Cherry Creek State Park after rangers closed the park temporarily to address vandalism and other law enforcement concerns.
The park announced on Sept. 26 that it was closing the park to everyone except campers between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The park’s rangers said that law enforcement had seen a rise in concerns, as well as vandalism.
“After a successful few days of the 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. enforcement, we are happy to welcome overnight anglers back to Cherry Creek,” the state park wrote on Facebook.
The park announced on Friday, Oct. 3, that nighttime fishing hours were restored, but there are rules in place.
Interested anglers should bring their fishing license. If you’re going boating, you’ll also need to bring your aquatic nuisance species pre-inspection paperwork to show to security at the gates.
The park fielded numerous complaints about the nighttime fishing restrictions as anglers aimed to get in a few last nights of fishing while the summer weather holds.
