DENVER (KDVR) — A passenger train and a vehicle collided east of Denver on Tuesday morning.
A spokesperson for Amtrak said that Amtrak Train 5 was on its way from Chicago to the San Francisco Bay Area and crashed with a vehicle at about 6:30 a.m.
There were about 174 passengers aboard the train with no injuries reported, and one crew member was getting a medical evaluation.
Amtrak said it will work with local law enforcement in the investigation into the crash and will continue west once the scene is released.
The Federal Railroad Administration reports that railroad crossing incidents are the second leading cause of rail-related deaths in the country.
No further information was immediately available. FOX31 has reached out to law enforcement for details and has not yet received a response.
