Sections of Longmont-to-Boulder Regional Trail to close for resurfacing

DENVER (KDVR) — Sections of the Longmont-to-Boulder Regional Trail in Boulder County will be closed for resurfacing starting on Monday, Sept. 29.

Boulder County Parks & Open Space said Thursday that the trail between Monarch Road and Mineral Road will be closed for resurfacing on Monday, Sept. 29, and that, once completed, the trail will be closed along Mineral Road.

The agency said the trails will be closed 24 hours a day while the work is being done, and that heavy equipment will be used. Trail users are asked to use a detour along North 79th Street.

The entire resurfacing project is expected to be completed by Nov. 26, the agency said.

The Longmont-to-Boulder Regional Trail is a 12-mile trail system that runs through Gunbarrel, Niwot and open space properties that connect the city of Boulder with the city of Longmont, according to Boulder County.

The trail is labeled as “easy” and allows hiking, dogs, bikes, e-bikes and horses, according to Boulder County, which notes on its website that trailheads close at sunset and parking is not allowed “between sunset and sunrise.”

Unauthorized motor vehicles, including scooters and mopeds, are also prohibited. E-bikes are also notably not allowed on a short signed area near Twin Lakes open space, due to HOA restrictions.
