DENVER (KDVR) — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has announced Friday that no criminal charges will be filed after an “incident” during a high school football game resulted in a coach being ejected.
The sheriff’s office said after it “thoroughly investigated” the incident during the Oct. 3 football game between Valor Christian High School and Mountain Vista High School, it has been ultimately determined that criminal charges will not be filed.
According to a previous release from Valor Christian High School, at the end of the game, an incident occurred between Mountain Vista High School’s assistant coach and a football player at Valor. The school also said game officials responded and the assistant coach had been ejected from the game.
After the incident, the sheriff’s office asked the public to provide any information or video footage as they were conducting an investigation along with the Colorado High School Activities Association.
On Friday, the sheriff’s office said charges will not be filed after its Investigation Division, along with the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, had later reviewed “all the evidence,” which included several interviews and the review of available video at the time of the incident.
The sheriff’s office noted it appreciates the cooperation from both schools and the agency “remains committed to ensuring a safe and positive environment for all school events in Douglas County.”
