South Peoria Street reopens in Aurora after crash seriously injures 2 pedestrians

DENVER (KDVR) — A crash in Aurora resulted in two pedestrians being taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and lane closures on South Peoria Street.

The Aurora Police Department said Thursday that traffic investigators were the scene of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The roadway reopened to traffic as of about 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Two pedestrians are reported by the Aurora agency to have been taken to a hospital. The driver is also said to have remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation

According to the agency, all lanes of South Peoria Street were closed between Florida and Jewell avenues as of 5:51 p.m.

Drivers were asked to use Havana Street as an alternate route.

The agency did not immediately share an update on the pedestrians’ conditions.
