DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Broncos wrap up their preseason schedule with an away game against the New Orleans Saints on Saturday.

Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton said the team plans to play its starters for 8-10 snaps, their first in-game action since the first preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers back on Aug. 9.

Broncos starting quarterback Bo Nix completed 6 of 11 passes in that game, which the Broncos won 30-9, while new starting tight end Evan Engram secured a 58-yard catch-and-run.

Notable position battles for Saturday, meanwhile, include in the running back position — which is currently headed by newcomers J.K. Dobbins and first round draft pick RJ Harvey — and on special teams.

Broncos Special Teams Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach Darren Rizzi said earlier this wek that players on the fringe of making the final 53-man roster will be evaluated for roles they can play on special teams.

“Those are the conversations that are going to happen here in these next few days,”Rizzi said, per the team.

The Broncos’ preseason finale kicks off at 11 a.m. local Colorado time.
