Suspect arrested in Greeley park shooting that left teen dead

DENVER (KDVR) — Police arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting at Centennial Park, which resulted in the death of an 18-year-old.

The Greeley Police Department said Friday that Logan Dewane-McDowell, 18, was arrested and faces charges for murder and robbery following the shooting on Aug. 14.

In August, Officers had responded to a reported shooting around 8 p.m. at Centennial Park in the 2200 block of 23rd Avenue.

The Greeley agency said when officers arrived on the scene, they located Damien Montoya, 18, with a least one gunshot wound.

Montoya was transported to a hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced dead, according to police.

The department previously said witnesses saw a fight between people in two vehicles, a red truck and a gray sedan, before the shooting. The alleged suspect fled the scene in one of the vehicles.

The investigation is ongoing, and Greeley police are asking for anyone with information to contact Detective Elizabeth Finch at (970) 350-9682 or [email protected].
