Suspects arrested after victim shot in armed robbery, carjacking: Arvada police

DENVER (KDVR) — Arvada police took two people into custody in connection to an armed robbery and carjacking in which a victim was shot multiple times Saturday night.

Officers just before 9 p.m. Saturday responded to a shooting in the area of West 54th Avenue and Harlan Street, the second shooting that day in the area but unrelated to the first one, the Arvada Police Department said.

Officers and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies determined the shooting was in connection to an armed robbery and carjacking and that a victim had been shot multiple times.

The victim was taken to a hospital, and a police spokesperson Sunday morning said the victim is in stable condition.

The stolen vehicle was identified through Arvada’s FLOCK Safety camera system, and officers pursued the suspects.

Officers stopped the pursuit using a PIT maneuver, then took the suspects into custody after they tried to escape on foot once the vehicle was stopped. The Arvada police spokesperson said two people were arrested.

In the first shooting in the area earlier that day, two men were found shot at an apartment complex at 7295 W. 56th Ave. at around 6:15 p.m.

Police said the shooting appeared to be a disturbance that escalated to gunfire, and the suspect in that shooting was known to the victim.
