DENVER (KDVR) — The city of Lone Tree held a “paw-some birthday celebration” for a team member with the Victim Services Unit of the Lone Tree Police Department.
The city posted to Facebook on Friday, which said that Mikey, the unit’s therapy dog, celebrated his 6th birthday in August with “a few of his best friends.”
“We’re so grateful to have Mikey as a part of our Victim Services Unit. His calming presence offers comfort and support to victims of crime, as well as to department and City staff during times of stress or crisis,” said the city.
The unit partners with the Parker Police Department and operates 24/7, which “ensures that all reasonable efforts are made to inform victims of their rights, appropriate support services, information and advocacy,” the city says on its website.
The city also said that Mikey is supervised and managed by two staff members who serve as victim assistance advocates.
Mikey’s 6th birthday was filled with his favorite things, including people and treats. The city also notes they were “more than happy to celebrate him and all the great work he does.”
