These 4 Denver restaurants earned a Michelin star

DENVER (KDVR) — The Michelin Guide has announced restaurants to receive awards in 2025, with new restaurants in Denver earning their first stars, and one becoming Colorado’s first two-starred restaurant.

The Michelin Guide is fairly new in Colorado. The guide, known for giving out prestigious awards that recognize outstanding cuisine, debuted in the state in 2023 with five restaurants earning the first Michelin stars.

Beckon, Bosq, BRUTØ, Frasca Food and Wine and The Wolf’s Tailor were the first to earn Michelin stars in Colorado. Several other restaurants in the area earned awards. More awards were given in 2024, but Alma Fonda Fina was the only restaurant to claim a Michelin star.

Now, on the third year of Michelin awards in Colorado, four restaurants earned a star, with one of them being the first in the state to receive two Michelin stars.

Here are the restaurants with awards in 2025:

The Wolf’s Tailor

“Offering a seamless dining experience as intriguing as its name, this comfortable haven blends together creativity, attention to detail, and charm. Chef Taylor Stark and his team stitch together an ambitious multicourse menu from culinary influences near and far,” the Michelin Guide said.

The Michelin Guide specifically mentioned the Berkshire pork dumpling and the Colorado bison loin for meals, and said the restaurant had “gorgeously manicured presentations.”

Kizaki

“Blending traditional edomae techniques and creative modern flourishes, the extensive menu alternates between small dishes like gorgeously marbled black-and-white sesame tofu and nigiri carefully crafted by Chef Kizaki himself,” the guide said.

The Michelin Guide said the restaurant had “exceptional” quality of ingredients, specifically mentioning the black-throat sea perch and the gizzard shad.

Margot

“After years spent as an esteemed pop-up, Chef Justin Fulton’s passion project has found a permanent berth at a cozy eight-seat counter tucked inside a larger shared space. Offered as a contemporary multicourse tasting that follows the seasons, his signature cuisine is both global and distinctly Coloradan, taking inspiration from local ingredients while weaving together wide-ranging influences,” the guide said.

The guide mentioned meals like the Parisian gnocchi, the “impeccably cooked” dry-aged duck breast and the bioche given to the table.

Mezcaleria Alma

Mezcaleria Alma, the Mexican restaurant on 15th Street, also won a Michelin star. This comes after it was named one of the 50 best places to eat in America by the New York Times. It lies next to its sister restaurant, Alma Fond Fina, which also won a Michelin star in 2024.

“Evoking the vibrant creativity of Mexico City’s restaurant scene, the succinct menu is sprinkled with international flavors, as in an herbaceous ceviche of kanpachi that incorporates dill and roasted garlic, or a subtly spiced aguachile of Santa Barbara uni and Hokkaido scallop with mandarin and crispy ginger,” the guide said.

Bib Gourmand awards

Cozobi Fonda Fina, a Mexican restaurant on Walnut Street, was the only new restaurant to earn a Bib Gourmand. This award recognizes “great food at a great value,” according to the guide.

Ash’Kara, Basta, The Ginger Pig, Glo Noodle House, Hop Alley, La Diabla Pozole Y Mezcal, MAKfam, Mister Oso and Tavernetta were also named Bib Gourmand restaurants, and were all named in previous years as well.
