SAN JUAN COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Three homes have been destroyed by a tornado in southeastern Utah’s San Juan County, according to Navajo Police.
Authorities confirmed that three homes near Montezuma Creek in San Juan County were destroyed after a tornado blew through the community Saturday afternoon. No injuries have been reported in the incident.

“The Navajo Police Department continues to coordinate with the Aneth Chapter House, San Juan County EMS, Utah Navajo Health System, and the Montezuma Creek Elementary School for recovery efforts,” Navajo Police posted on Facebook. “The families affected by today’s weather incident will be able to seek shelter at the Montezuma Creek Elementary School.”
Numerous power poles were also downed, causing utility disruptions, according to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.
Community members are advised to please stay out of the damaged areas. The general public is advised to stay up to date with weather updates and alerts in your area.
“Our prayers go out to the families that lost their home and to those impacted,” Navajo Police said.
“American Red Cross information will be provided to the three affected families for additional assistance,” Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren added. “We will continue to monitor conditions and provide further updates as new information becomes available.”
