Thursday is the last day for Coloradans to get waived college application fees

DENVER (KDVR) — A statewide campaign is underway, providing Coloradans the opportunity to continue their education with waived application fees.

On Tuesday, the Colorado Free Application Days campaign kicked off, waiving application fees for undergraduate programs at 32 state colleges and universities, along with some private institutions, too.

“By waiving application fees—a common barrier to higher education—Colorado Free Application Days aims to improve access to further education and training, which is becoming increasingly critical in the state’s rapidly changing economy,” said the Colorado Department of Higher Education on its website.

Participating public education institutions

The agency said all two-year and community colleges in the state are a part of the campaign, along with technical colleges. The following public institutions in Colorado, according to the agency’s website, are the following:

  • Adams State University
  • Colorado Mesa University
  • Colorado School of Mines
  • Colorado State University, Fort Collins
  • Colorado State University Global
  • Colorado State University Pueblo
  • Fort Lewis College
  • Metropolitan State University of Denver
  • University of Colorado Boulder
  • University of Colorado Denver
  • University of Colorado at Colorado Springs
  • University of Northern Colorado

Participating private education institutions

According to the department’s website, several private colleges and universities within the state are participating in Colorado Free Application Days:

  • Colorado Christian University
  • Colorado College
  • Regis University
  • University of Denver
  • Naropa University

Requirements

According to the agency, the following Colorado applicants are eligible for waived fees:

  • First-time freshmen
  • Transfer students
  • Returning students
  • Residents seeking a second bachelor’s degree

The department notes that the waived application fees can include undergraduate-level certificates, associate degrees and bachelor’s degrees.

The Colorado Free Application Days continue until midnight on Thursday. The CDHE has provided instructions along with codes for applicants to waive fees on its website.
